Frequently asked questions

Here we answer what we get asked most often in the shop, by email and on the phone: opening hours, shipping, milk, roasting and more. Your question missing? Call us or drop us a line — we don't bite, we only roast.

Shop & coffee bar

Where do I find your shop?

Right in the middle of Bad Kötzting: Herrenstraße 10, directly opposite the town hall. Since 2017 you'll find our beans, equipment, gifts — and a coffee bar.

When are you open?

Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am to 6pm, Saturday from 9am to 12 noon. Closed on Sundays and public holidays — the law is stricter than our thirst for coffee.

Can I get coffee to take away?

Of course: cappuccino, flat white, espresso or filter coffee — fresh from the bar, to go in a reusable reCup if you like. And you can sit outside, in our beach chairs.

Which milk do you use at the coffee bar?

Berchtesgadener mountain farmers' milk — and as a plant-based alternative the barista edition from Moelk (oat). Both foam cleanly and let the coffee shine.

Do you grind coffee for home?

Gladly. Just tell us how you brew at home — pour-over, French press, espresso machine, moka pot or bean-to-cup — and we'll grind your beans to match. In the shop or in the online shop.

What do you brew with in the shop?

Espresso runs through a La Marzocco with Ceado grinders, filter coffee is brewed by our 3temp Hipster. For that we grind on a Mahlkönig EK43 with Titus burrs. The coffees change constantly — so you can taste your way through the range.

Orders & shipping

What does shipping cost?

Within Germany: small parcels as DHL Kleinpaket for €3.95, everything else as a DHL parcel for €6.90 — free from €75 order value. To the rest of the EU mainland: €9.90 (tracked mail up to 1 kg) or €16.90 (DHL parcel).

When do you ship?

Usually on every day the shop is open — Saturdays included. Parcels are packed in the shop and collected by DHL daily, so your coffee is often with you the next day. You get a tracking number automatically.

How can I pay?

Payment runs through PayPal — which gives you PayPal itself, credit card, invoice and instant bank transfer. Quick and secure.

Do you ship outside Germany?

Yes — we ship throughout Germany and to the entire EU mainland. Even beyond the Bavarian border. Promised.

Coffee & roastery

Where is your coffee roasted?

Here in Bad Kötzting in the Bavarian Forest — since 2015, on a classic Probat UG22 retro drum roaster. Mostly single origins and our classic blends, in small batches.

Which coffee suits my brewing method?

For espresso machines and moka pots our espressos, for pour-over and filter machines the lighter filter roasts, for bean-to-cup machines the darker ones. There's an overview on our coffee page.

How do you brew your espresso?

Our standard recipe at the coffee bar: 18 g of ground coffee, 42 g in the cup, 25–30 seconds. With your machine, your grinder and your water, feel free to deviate — whatever tastes good is allowed.

Is your coffee certified organic?

We ourselves are not certified organic — honest answer. But we prefer to buy green coffee that is certified organic, carries Rainforest Alliance or UTZ certification, or comes from smallholder cooperatives that simply cannot afford pesticides. Ask us about any particular coffee — we'll tell you openly what's behind it.

Do you have decaf?

Yes! As beans for home — our gscheid frei — and at the coffee bar too: filtered or from the espresso machine as cappuccino, espresso & co. — decaf on request.

Wholesale & events

Do you supply cafés, restaurants or shops?

Yes, very much so — from delicatessens to restaurants and owner-run supermarkets, and in smaller quantities too. We advise on bean selection and machines. All the details on our wholesale page.

Do you bring your coffee bar to events?

We have a mobile coffee bar for events. Tell us what you have in mind — if it fits the calendar, we're there.
